Many people in the Grand Canyon state, as well as Arizona DUI attorneys are probably familiar with the non-profit organization Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), but in addition to MADD, students and young Arizonans should also be familiar with SADD.
The organization SADD is also known as Students Against Destructive Decisions or Students Against Driving Drunk. The organization has several chapters across the U.S, including many chapters in the state of Arizona.
SADD says on their website that the organization primarily encourages young people not to drink and drive through positive forms of peer-to-peer education. The organization reports that 86 percent of teens and 95 percent of parents who are aware of SADD think that SADD plays a positive role in influencing the choices that teens make.
What empowering activities does the organization exactly have to encourage students not to drink and drive? There certainly seems to be a lot going on with the organization, but some of the most notable activities involve alcohol education centering around sober all night parties, red ribbon campaigns, and mock car crashes of a drunk driving accident.
The organization accepts tax-deductible donations and encourages community members who are supportive of anti-drunk driving to make a financial contribution to the group. According to SADD's website donations often go toward putting on national activities and program developments. If you would like to get involved with one of SADD's local Arizona chapters, you can visit http://www.azsadd.org or contact the Arizona SADD coordinator at 1-800-996-SADD.
