An alleged drunk driver crashed into a vehicle earlier this month near 59th Avenue and Van Bruen Street in Phoenix; where the crash has been hitting a lot of Arizona news channels. This is because a baby that was in one of the cars was able to survive the severe crash.
Unfortunately, a woman died in the crash, according to Fox News; where police say that the drunk driver killed a woman after driving into oncoming traffic. The drunk driver struck the other vehicle head-on, according to police. Several beer cans were also found at the scene.
Fox News reports that a 14-month-old baby boy was riding in the Chevy pickup truck with the drunk driver unrestrained. Police were shocked that the baby is still alive. The infant and driver of the vehicle were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries after the crash.
"Fortunately the baby is fine thus far," Lt. John White of the Phoenix Police Department told AZ Family. "We had a witness who saw the whole thing. She immediately ran over to the pickup truck, opened up the passenger door and scooped the baby off the floorboards. The fire department got here. When we observed the baby, the baby was breathing, obviously crying, appeared to be alert."
The Phoenix police are still conducting and investigation of what happened the night of the crash. They say charges against the drunk driver will be filed.
