SnoBars: Alcoholic Popsicles and Ice Cream Debuting in AZ Stores

If someone could create alcoholic whipped cream, it was only a matter of time before someone else created alcoholic ice cream to put the alcoholic whipped cream on.

SnoBar Cocktails - alcohol infused ice cream and ice pops - will soon be hitting the store shelves, reports myFoxPhoenix.com.

SnoBars may sound kid-friendly, but the product stays true to the Cocktail part. Each serving reportedly contains as much alcohol as a regular drink, with some of the products containing as much as 14 percent.

With such a high alcohol content, having one-too-many cosmopolitan or margarita-flavored SnoBars could land you in the drunk tank if you aren't just as careful about your consumption of the popsicles as you are with alcoholic drinks.

Given the possibility of a popsicle-impaired DUI, it's ironic that SnoBars are debuting in Arizona, which is notorious for its strict DUI laws and enforcement. But if an ice cream parlor in Old Town Scottsdale can sell alcoholic ice cream, perhaps it's not too surprising that someone thought to put it on convenience store shelves.

It's also not surprising that there are potential dangers to making alcohol more tempting. Parents are warned about the message they may be sending their children for purchasing the pops.

"As parents, think long and hard if this is something you want to enjoy yourself, how you are going to keep it from your kids, making sure they are not inadvertently consuming some of it or you are just creating a behavior pattern for them," former Phoenix Policeman Paul Penzone told myFoxPhoenix.

Most importantly, consumers should be more cautious when driving after eating a popsicle or two. You may not realize how impaired you are after having a pop or an alcoholic ice cream sundae topped with a dollop of alcoholic whipped cream.

"We believe it's a great addition to any holiday party and a great addition to any menu that any party should have," said SnoBar Cocktails creator, Eddie Masjedi. "At the same time all the adults need to indulge and enjoy responsibly."
